Another decent tactics game, if you can deal with the RPG elements. This one has a neat strategy overmap which makes the metagame a bit more than noise.

If for some reason you refuse to play the original, this version could be a decent "bumper bowling" version to get you warmed up.

A very interesting card game with no output randomness. If you wanted to play Magic: The Gathering, you should just play this instead.

Ultimately, Civilization IV is probably the best of the Civilization games. Still highly random, but they are, at least, contests.

Neat adaptation of a decent abstract board game. Play with all the DLC pieces to get the maximum depth out of it. The AI acts decently clever, too.

It's not all that deep, but it's turn-based strategy and some actual design work was put into it in form of the "floor-removal" mechanism. Rare enough!

Innovative turn-based strategy game, elegantly designed. The big drawback are the simultaneous actions, that regularly degenerate into guessing.

One of the more innovative games of the last years. Resembles a solitaire board game. The saving mechanism is genuis. The random events totally suck.
