Hearts of Iron 4 may have less depth than its predecessor but thats what makes it fun. You could unite the world under a single faction or simply do a world conquest.

Extremely hard and steep learning curve for beginners but once you get past that stage, then the game becomes fun and challenging. The difficulty modes are harder than most games (especially legendry)

Possibly one of the greatest sandboxes ever made. You can do world conquests or play as a bandit roaming the countryside, the DLC for this game are superb. The best one being Napoleonic Wars.

Great depth and gameplay. High level cap. You can play hours on end without getting bored or tired.
